Always More to Hear
My Choir’s Fundraiser to record our first ever album

We are now in the last 24 hours of the Conspiracy of Venus indiegogo fundraiser. We have worked our asses off and we’ve raised over $25,000 to record our first ever album. If still want want to donate, we will use every dollar to buy better equipment, better and cooler merch and, most importantly, record more music. Thank you SO MUCH to those that have helped us step it up and start down this amazing new road. Oh, and there’s still cookies available as a perk :)

Michael Jackson - Beat It (Demo)
1,695,175 plays

This is pretty amazing.

Demo of Beat It composed using only Michael Jackson’s voice

As Jackson couldn’t fluently play any instruments, he would sing and beatbox out how he wanted his songs to sound by himself on tape, layering the vocals, harmonies and rhythm before having instrumentalists come in to complete the songs.

One of his engineers Robmix on how Jackson worked: “One morning MJ came in with a new song he had written overnight. We called in a guitar player, and Michael sang every note of every chord to him. “here’s the first chord first note, second note, third note. Here’s the second chord first note, second note, third note”, etc., etc. We then witnessed him giving the most heartfelt and profound vocal performance, live in the control room through an SM57. He would sing us an entire string arrangement, every part. Steve Porcaro once told me he witnessed MJ doing that with the string section in the room. Had it all in his head, harmony and everything. Not just little eight bar loop ideas. he would actually sing the entire arrangement into a micro-cassette recorder complete with stops and fills.”

Reasons why I laugh when people say he wasn’t a real musician.

"I’m trying to be more patient. I want everything to happen right now, when I know I should be going slow and paying my dues.""In what area are you most impatient?""I know I should say ‘career,’ but honestly, I really want to fall in love.""How do you pay your dues in love?""You’ve got to meet a lot of people. You can’t just go around saying: ‘Hey! You’re nice, and attractive. So I love you!’"

Oh girl don’t I know it. In falling in love, it really is a numbers game. Keep at it, you’ll find your person. But yes, patience is everything there. And don’t take anything too personally. Easier said than done (I was not good at that part), but if you can do it, the whole process of finding someone will be a lot more fun.
